The Notebook, a classic.

Although I like to write about love and relationships a lot, I am not a huge fan of romance novels and/or movies. However, I have read Nicholas Sparks’ book “the notebook” and watched the movie. You could almost say this is a mini review? I digress. (hahaha I sound really silly)

Below are my favourite quotes both from the book and featured in the movie.

  • The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds, and that’s what you’ve given me. That’s what I hope to give to you forever. I love you. I’ll be seeing you. Noah.
  • I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I’ve led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who’s ever lived: I’ve loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough.
  • So it’s not gonna be easy. It’s going to be really hard; we’re gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me… everyday.
  • They didn’t agree on much. In fact, they didn’t agree on anything. They fought all the time and challenged each other ever day. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common. They were crazy about each other.

What I love most about this love story is that despite their differences, time apart and their mistakes, they see love. I believe that this is why most relationships fail. The inability to see past someone’s differences and learn instead of resent.
